3. Cover the chip with clear tape. Keeps dirt and moisture out, which improves repair quality later. Don't cover the driver's view.
4. Avoid rough roads and slamming doors. Pressure spikes and vibration spread cracks.

What NOT to do: Skip the DIY resin kits. Poorly applied resin can contaminate the break and make a professional repair impossible — turning a $100 fix into a $400 replacement.
